Refractory construction for Energy / Incineration / Boilers

Incineration and boiler plants form the backbone of thermal energy generation and waste recovery. The refractory lining must withstand extreme loads: temperatures up to 1,300 °C, aggressive flue gases with high chloride and alkali contents, and erosive ash deposits place the highest demands on the lining.

SBS Refractory Service is an experienced partner for operators of waste incineration plants, biomass power plants, thermal recovery plants and industrial boiler plants. In addition to conventional refractory linings, we also supply acid-resistant linings for flue gas cleaning systems and scrubbers – a decisive factor for plant availability.

Our services range from complete relining and annual outage maintenance to emergency service. We coordinate all work with your outage planning and, where required, work in multi-shift operation to limit downtime to the technically necessary minimum.

Typical challenges

  • Chemical attack by chlorides, alkalis and heavy metals in the flue gas destroys the lining
  • Erosion by abrasive fly ash and slag particles in the combustion chamber and flue gas passes
  • Slagging and deposit formation from low-melting ash constituents in biomass fuels
  • Corrosion of membrane walls and boiler tubes requires special protective coatings
  • Strict emission regulations require intact acid-protection linings in the flue gas cleaning system
