Initial situation
A municipal utility in Franconia runs one combined heat and power plant and several heating plants. The biomass boiler can only come off the grid when nobody needs district heating — in other words, at the height of summer. Between 2019 and 2025 SBS looked after this utility's plants across 24 deployments. The major annual overhaul fell in the first half of July six years in a row.

The task
The overhaul window is set by the weather, not by planning: if July turns cold, the window closes
An overhaul running two and a half weeks is a different thing from a one-day repair — both occurred at the same utility

Between the overhauls come the small things — manhole bricks, joints, a tube failure. They arrive without warning
The SBS approach
The July date became a fixed point in the year. In five consecutive years the overhaul started on a Monday in the first half of July — plannable for both sides.
Crew size is cut to the length: three people over two and a half weeks for the major overhaul, one or two for a single-day job in between.
Over six years the small work landed here too — brickwork, manhole bricks, flat burners, fibre lining. Someone who stands inside the boiler in July still knows it in October.
The work is spread across the CHP plant and the heating plants of the same utility. One point of contact, several installations, the same standard.
