What does Repair involve?

Not every instance of damage calls for a complete relining. With targeted repairs to the affected areas, we bring your furnace back into production quickly and economically. Whether localised wear, cracking or mechanical break-outs – we identify the damage precisely and repair it professionally.

Our repair team has many years of experience with all established repair techniques: from conventional brick replacement through casting repairs and gunning to hot repairs on furnaces that have not fully cooled down. In many cases this allows us to intervene without a complete shutdown.

At SBS Refractory Service, cost-effectiveness is the priority. We advise you honestly on whether a repair makes sense or whether a partial relining is the better option. Every repair is fully documented and feeds into our recommendations for the next maintenance interval.

Our process

Step by step to the result

Structured, transparent and on schedule — this is how we work.

1

Damage assessment

Visual inspection and damage analysis

2–4 hours

Our specialists examine the damaged area visually and by measurement. The remaining wall thickness is determined by ultrasonic testing or laser measurement. Based on the findings, we produce a precise damage map.

2

Repair concept

Definition of method, material and scope

½–1 day

Depending on the type and extent of the damage, we select the optimum repair technique: brick replacement, casting repair, gunning or hot repair. The concept takes into account the remaining service life of the surrounding lining and the next scheduled overhaul.

3

Execution

Targeted repair of the damaged areas

1–5 days

The repair is carried out by experienced refractory installers. For hot repairs, special heat-resistant equipment and techniques are used. Every work step is documented and all materials used are recorded with their batch numbers.

4

Acceptance

Quality inspection and documentation

2–4 hours

Once the repair is complete, a visual inspection and, where applicable, a leak-tightness check are carried out. You receive a detailed repair report with photos, material specifications and recommendations for ongoing monitoring.
