The combustion chamber is the heart of every grate firing system — and its lining determines the availability of the entire plant. A look into a freshly lined chamber shows what matters.
Five points from our practice
- Material selection to suit the zone: the arch, the side walls and the grate zone carry different loads from radiant heat, abrasion and slag. Each zone is designed in its own right instead of working with one standard grade.
- The arch first: a sprung arch transfers its thrust through the abutments. Loose joints travel upwards — which is why the roof has priority.
- Execute openings tightly: secondary air penetrations and burner edges are the most heavily loaded. They have to be monolithic, tight and dimensionally accurate.
- Minimise joints: above the grate, a dense surface with cleanly staggered joints ensures long cleaning intervals and service life.
- Controlled first heat-up: only the right heat-up curve secures the quality that has been built in — documented and traceable.
